Destination Marketing and Management

Both initiatives work together to keep our economy and communities strong.

Sustainable tourism, in its purest sense, is an industry that attempts to make a low impact on the environmental and local culture, while helping to generate income and employment without overtaxing any resources – whether human, environmental or man-made. The ultimate goal of sustainable tourism is to improve the quality of life for residents of Maine and Aroostook County.

The carefully planned growth of tourism presents opportunities to raise the quality of life for residents, generate jobs and business opportunities, and protect our Maine lifestyle. Aroostook County Tourism writes an annual Marketing Plan while following the Five Year Strategic Plan & Values of the Maine Office of Tourism.

Aroostook County Tourism 202/26 Destination Goals
  1.  Exceed 111,000 Website Visitors
    • Utilize the Google Ads Grant for Nonprofits
    • Partner with an SEO company to audit and implement a plan to improve the SEO of the new www.visitaroostook.com 
    • Restart the publishing of new content on VisitAroostook.com such as inspiring itineraries, rich articles, and fun content with a goal of 24 pieces.
  2. Distribute 20,000 Guide books
    • Partner with Getaways on display to add10 distribution locations to ACT’s existing mix.
    • Maintain the existing number of guidebooks requested from www.visitaroostook.com
  3. Distribute 40,000 ATV Maps  
    • Utilize a brochure slot at all Maine State Visitor Information Centers, and utilize a seasonal floor display in two centers (Hampton North and Kittery).
  4. Build A Video Library
    • Add 120 minutes of raw footage to the ACT Asset Library.
    • Produce no less than four final cut videos.
